Robert Paul Maglione, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008 in Surprise, Ariz. He was born Oct. 20, 1934 in Akron, Ohio, and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul B. and Blanche B. (Bess) Maglione.
Mr. Maglione, was an only child, and was never married, but was beloved by almost everyone he met and charmed, with his great smile and zest for travel and meeting new people.
Over the years he lived in Ohio, California, Hawaii, and eventually in Arizona. He worked with his parents in their apartment rentals and dry cleaning business, following his high school graduation in California.
In 1986 Maglione and his parents moved to Payson, Ariz., and he continued his employment with Safeway until his retirement. He then worked for the Town of Payson, Ariz., as coordinator of guided bus tours to Laughlin, Las Vegas, and Benson, Ariz. He was one of the first season ticket holders for the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. He was also a race car enthusiast and collector of miniature race cars. At his request, there will be no formal funeral services.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Advantage Golden Door Chapel, Youngtown, Ariz., His ashes will be interred with his parents in Akron, Ohio. Donations in his name may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014, the caregivers who treated him so well.
