One Defendant In Watson Murder Trial Has Date Set

Thomas Georgatos will go to trial at the end of May for the murder of Roger Patrick Watson.

Watson's body was found a year ago, Feb. 20, in the trunk of a burning vehicle on Cracker Jack Mine Road. The body was not identified for several weeks, though relatives suspected it was Watson from details made available.

Arrests were made Feb. 26, a week after the discovery of the body.

Georgatos is the only one of three defendants in the case with a trial date set. Defendant Scott B. McGeough is awaiting his trial date, which is likely to be set after his next case management conference, according to Gila County Attorney Daisy Flores.

The third defendant, William M. Sweatt, took a plea.

He will be sentenced following the resolution of the Georgatos and McGeough cases. Georgatos has a trial date on Feb. 26 on unrelated charges, Flores said.
