Phs Drama Students To Present Romantic Comedy

Since Jane Austin published the novel "Pride and Prejudice" in 1813, beloved characters Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet have been adapted for the stage and more recently TV and movie screens.

Payson High School drama students aim to take their audience to merry olde Victorian-era England where Mrs. Bennet wants nothing more than to marry her five daughters to wealthy, respectable men.

Jane and Elizabeth, played by students Jennifer Sandoval and Rachel Ward, respectively, discuss suitors with their mother, Mrs. Bennet, in the Payson High School Theatre presentation of "Pride and Prejudice" in the PHS auditorium. Sabrina Brahm plays the Mrs. Bennet part.

Her daughter Elizabeth is rather prejudicial in her choice of suitors.

When Elizabeth first meets Darcy, she finds him to be proud, haughty and insulting.

For his part, Darcy considers Elizabeth to be beneath his social standing.

Mr. Collins, a pompous young clergyman, is also interested in Elizabeth, but she has her eye on the dashing cad, George Wickham.

However, George has his eye on one of Elizabeth's sisters.

Deceptions, miscommunications and witty repartee evolve to the final act of wedded... bliss?
