Dale Lawrence to speak at Central Christian Church
Dale Lawrence, executive director of Arizona Reservation Ministries, will be speaking Sunday, March 2, at Central Christian Church of Payson.
Founded in 2002, ARM exists to make disciples of the Native American People, empowering them to meet the spiritual and physical needs of their community, motivating them to become active members of local Bible-based churches. ARM assists brothers and sisters of the San Carlos Apache Nation in innumerable ways: distributing more than 450 backpacks filled with school supplies; more than 450 Christmas stockings stuffed with toiletries, toys and more; more than 600 fleece blankets and household items; and in construction of homes for a Nation with an unemployment rate of 77 percent. Children's and youth programs are presented on a weekly basis to nearly 200 children and teens from renovated buses with a basketball hoop on the back. They look like buses on the outside, and youth centers, complete with toys, televisions, microwaves, etc. on the inside.
For more information regarding ARM, visit their Web site at www.azrez.orp.
Central Christian Church meets in the Seventh Day Adventist facility every Sunday. Bible school is at 9:30 a.m. and worship is at 10:30 a.m.

Jews for Jesus Presentation
What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus' Last Supper have in common? Tracy Rapp, speaking on behalf of Jews for Jesus, will answer that question in a presentation called "Christ in the Passover" at 6 p.m., Monday, March 10 at Payson Christian Church, 501 E Rancho Road, Payson. Admission is free. Come back to the Fellowship Hall behind the Worship Center.
Using a visual display of traditional Passover accouterments, the "Christ in the Passover" presentation enhances the Christian's understanding and appreciation of the Jewish background of the Christian Communion. Ancient and modern Jewish customs are discussed and described with an emphasis on the aspect of redemption, which Christ accomplished at Calvary.
A table is set with the traditional Jewish Passover items, including representative foods, which are explained, but not eaten. The ceremonial seder plate, the three-compartment pouch in which the matzo (unleavened bread) is kept, as well as the traditional cup of Elijah are presented, and new insights to their Christological significance are provided.
Jews for Jesus has presented this demonstration in more than 5,000 churches.
Those attending the special "Christ in the Passover" program at Payson Christian Church March 10 will also have an opportunity to examine some of the program literature, materials and even CDs of original Jewish gospel music and drama.
The free program is open to the general public and Tracy Rapp will be available to answer questions those attending might have. A free will offering will be taken. For more information, call the church at (928) 474-3138 or go to paysonchristianchurch.org and check out the "Events" page and map on the "contact us" page.
