Robert Eugene River, 52, of Payson, died Feb. 26, 2008. He was born April 7, 1955, in Glenwood Springs, Colo. to Stanley and Ruby River.
He spent most of his younger life living in Eagle, Colo. The family owned a cabin there that was visited as often as possible.
He started driving a truck as a very young man and continued until his time of death. He drove a truck throughout the 49 states, going from coast to coast. The most enjoyable trips were when he had one of his sons riding along with him.
On Jan. 5, 1980, he married Kathy Hinton in Kirtland, N.M. They had four sons and moved to Payson in 1991 to be closer to family.
Mr. River was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting, fishing, and camping. His father instilled a love for the great outdoors in him at a very young age. As a father, he passed on this great love to his sons. Many bonds were strengthened and love grew as he spent time with his boys in the outdoors. He was very proud of his sons.
He is survived by his parents Stanley and Ruby River of Payson, his wife of 28 years, Kathy; his three sons, Robert Blair River (Zonnie) of Arizona City; Ryan Brett River of Mesa, and Richard Bryce River (Whitney) of Mesa; and the love of his life, his granddaughter, Sascha River. He is also survived by three sisters, Millie Avalos, Kristy River and Melody Donaldson and one brother, Stanley River, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Blake River.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1 at the Payson LDS Stake Center, with funeral services following at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Pioneer Cemetery in Payson.
