The winter storm that brought the Payson area rain Jan. 5-7 brought enough snow to higher elevations to cause travel problems.
State Routes 87 and 260 had warnings posted mid-morning Monday, Jan. 7. At Pine, a roadblock was put up ordering chains or four-wheel drive for further travel on Highway 87. The warning sign on Highway 260 in Star Valley was activated to advise travelers of snow on the road. Cars and semis were reportedly off the road at higher elevations on 260, near Kohl's Ranch and above.
