Town To Hold Special Meetings On Goal Setting, Transportation Issues

The Town of Payson will greet the new year with a slew of meetings seeking public input, including a hearing on the priority list for the year and meetings of committees debating transportation and recreation issues.

The Town Council will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday in the council chambers to hear public input on the Payson Goal Plan, its annually updated "to-do" list.

The town has already gathered a sparse handful of written comments, suggesting the town focus more on providing bike paths and hiking trails.

The current plan includes an update of the master plan for the airport area, which could be affected by a recent federal land trade that will transfer 220 acres near the airport to private hands. In addition, the current plan focuses on a $400,000 neighborhood beautification plan.

Two key advisory committees will meet soon.

The Surface Transportation Advisory Committee will meet from 4 to 6 on Wednesday Jan. 9 to continue work on planning for various proposals to improve traffic flow in the city.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will meet on Jan. 23 from 5:15 to 7:15 at the Green Valley Park.
