This Week's Review

So, the new year is one week and a day old. Keeping those resolutions? Don't worry, we don't need the start of the new year to start new projects. Every new day is a good time to start something new.

For instance, if you have promised yourself to move more, join the Payson Parks and Recreation Department's hike on Monday, Jan. 21 from the Event Center to the Peach Orchard Trailhead. It's free and will introduce you to some of the wonders in our own back yard.

Want to shake off some of your winter blahs or cabin fever, step out Jan. 13 for an afternoon of jazz with Ken Taylor at the Community Presbyterian Church in Payson.

Want to experience a touch of the old West? Come out on the afternoon of Jan. 29 to welcome the Hashknife Pony Express riders to Payson on the 50th anniversary run. The crew makes a run to the Payson post office around 4 p.m., after doing a hard ride and mail bag exchanges down the Rim from Holbrook to commemorate the original Pony Express riders. Learn more about them in this edition's cover feature.

Start planning your summer vacation. Ken Brooks has a couple of cruises to tell you about in his column, "Travel Talk."
