A Job Well Done By All Concerned

Ending the stalemate between a developer, the town and residents of West Houston Road and the surrounding area is a big step forward.

The orange fence that has been gracing the 12-acre property near Payson Pines was hideous, but thanks to the shuttle diplomacy of Payson Mayor Bob Edwards, the willingness of the developer Mike Horton and homeowners, a compromise was reached.

The controversial 93-home housing development has been turned into a model of compromise. The compromise calls for the developer to kick in $200,000 that, combined with the city's $200,000, will go toward solving long-standing drainage problems in the affected community. The Payson Planning and Zoning commission and eventually the town council will still need to review the final details and give their approval. But at least after months and months of a standoff a solution is at hand.

We commend all concerned for finding a solution to a one-time adamantly opposed-to project.
