Editor:

I would like to send out a huge thank you to the residents of Rim Country for their participation in Payson Humane Society's aluminum can recycling project. Between January. and December of 2007 we recycled 36,160 pounds ( yes that's 18 tons) of cans. Which brought in $26,141 to help support the lost and abandoned animals of this community.

I would like to send out a special thank you to the volunteers who make this project possible. Ron and Myrna Tipps and Leroy and Ellie Watson for their dedicated Dumpster diving, Ted Lucas for his dedicated can crushing and Bob and Judy Berger for their longtime dedication to maintaining a record of the numbers and Dumpster diving and Ric Landshut for substituting when and where ever needed. Also to Matt Hinson and his staff at Arizona Environmental Recycling for all their help in making this such a huge success.

I would encourage anyone who isn't already bringing their cans to us to help this very important cause.

We have drop off points at Payson Town Hall, Payson Humane Society, 508 S. Manzanita Drive, the Methodist church, Kohl's Ranch, Ponderosa Market in Pine as well as the fire departments on Hardscrabble Road in Pine and Strawberry.

Thank you Rim Country. Keep up the great work!
