Alliance Will Provide Health Education Scholarships

The Mogollon Health Alliance has announced plans to award scholarships to students pursuing education in the health care field.

Any individual currently attending school or working in Northern Gila County who plans to begin or continue their education in a course of study that will lead to a human health-care related career in the laboratory, physical or respiratory therapy, nursing, radiology, pharmacy, medicine, social work, etc. may apply.

How to Apply

All application forms, properly filled out, signed, and with all requested information attached, should be mailed or delivered to: MHA Auxiliary Scholarship Chairman, 308 E. Aero Drive, Payson, AZ 85541. Call (928) 472-2586 for any questions.

Applicants enrolling for fall semester must have scholarship applications postmarked by April 1. Applicants for Gila Community College's CNA classes must file their applications with the scholarship chairman as soon as possible after classes are announced with the understanding that the majority of our scholarships are awarded in the spring.

Applicants for education programs that do not fall in the above categories may apply throughout the year with the understanding that the majority of the scholarships are awarded in the spring.

The Scholarship Committee shall oversee the awarding of the annual MHA Auxiliary Scholarships in an amount set by the MHA Budget Committee. The Scholarship Chairman shall notify all applicants of their scholarship status by the end of April for those enrolling for the fall semester. Other applicants will be notified as soon as possible after receiving their completed applications.

Scholarship funds shall apply directly to the cost of tuition and books. The scholarship funds will be mailed directly to the institution where the recipient will be enrolling. All unused awarded funds will be returned to MHA by March 1, 2009.

Selection process

All applicants, regardless of age or sex, will receive consideration for scholarships based on (1) their record of academic achievement and/or work experience, (2) favorable references, and (3) financial need.

Gather your documents

  • A signed and dated application form, filled out. Application forms may be requested from Mogollon Health Alliance or picked up at the front desk of the Payson Roundup.
  • A high school transcript or GED transcript or college transcript if you are attending or have attended college.
  • Two letters of recommendation (which must have the current year's date), from responsible persons, not related to you, who have personally observed you in an educational and/or professional capacity and who can give a worthwhile opinion of your character, industriousness, purposefulness, and personal worthiness. Letters must be signed and dated.
  • A statement of not more than 200 words, prepared by you, summarizing school and extracurricular activities, hobbies, etc., if you are presently attending school full time. If employed, this statement should cover job title and duties, length of employment, promotions, etc.
