A report of a Payson student with a gun caused all district schools to be locked down beginning at 8:30 this morning. The lock down was lifted at 10:20 a.m.
The student, who reportedly had a gun, was spotted by a probation officer just before 10 a.m., and police officials were expecting to have the student arrested shortly.
While the teen was on campus, he did not make it in any school classrooms with the gun, but apparently told other students he was not going to class today and that he had a gun, the Roundup was told.
School officials locked down all of the district's structures and conducted a search of the high school buildings and grounds in an attempt to find the teen. All of the district's school buildings were secured as a precaution, district superintendent Casey O'Brien said.
Police officials and a SWAT team, along with at least one K-9 unit searched school property this morning.
