Coy A. "Wes" Western, 84, of Pine, died July 7, 2008 in Payson. He was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Arkansas to John and Lydia Western.

Mr. Western retired in 1985 from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Coy A. “Wes” Western, 84, of Pine, died July 7, 2008 in Payson. He was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Arkansas to John and Lydia Western. Mr. Western retired in 1985 from the Arizona Department of Transportation. He had no special hobbies, but enjoyed just puttering around the house. He was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helpful hand, whatever the project. He made many friends in his lifetime, and everyone loved and respected him. Mr. Western took care of his wife, Jewell, the last three years of her life, until her death in 1999. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sisters, Essie Forrester of Perryville, Ark. and Hazel McNulty of Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Roy Western of St. Charles, Mo.; daughter, Joyce Root of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Robert Kidwell and Delbert Kidwell Jr., both of Dayton, Ohio; one grandson, Michael; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jewell; and brother, Otis Western. Services were held July 10 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home. Interment was at Greenwood Memorial Park in Phoenix.
