Gallery Has Six Artists Paint Chairs To Benefit Pine Library

Six artists from Myra's Art Gallery in Pine have painted chairs for the Chair-ish Auction, which Take Pride is hosting to benefit the Pine library. The auction is at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Pine Community Center.

Gallery owner Myra Kramer said she believes in Take Pride and the wonderful things it does for the community.

"I do what I can to donate things for their causes," she said. "I asked several of my artists to paint chairs and donate to this auction, as well as painting a chair myself."

Among the estimated 40 works in the auction will be an unusual chair donated by Carol Kane Simerly, a Myra's Art Gallery artist. Her inspiration for the chair was her aunt, Sybil Kane's book, "The Insect Wonderland."

"I had no idea how difficult this project would be," Simerly said.

Book signings of "The Insect Wonderland" will be held at Myra's Art Gallery in Pine by Simerly's daughter, Marguerite Young, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 9 and Sept. 13.
