Game night set

Bring the family for a fun night of board games and more at the Payson Public Library from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 15.

All ages are welcome. No sign-up is necessary. Light snacks will be provided.

Library facilities will be closed, only the meeting room will be open.

Women's "Step Outside" weekend

Women are invited to "Step Outside" with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Town of Payson, Chandler Rod and Gun Club and the Tonto Rim Sports Club at the Houston Mesa Horse Camp just north of Payson, to learn more about outdoor recreation Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30-31.

This two-day, overnight campout will introduce women to camping skills, wildlife conservation, fishing, shooting sports and archery at the Jim Jones Shooting Range.

Activities will include camp and campfire set-up, instruction in shotguns, long rifles and archery, hiking, fishing, outdoor photography and natural environment education

The cost is $50 per woman, which includes all meals prepared by members of Chandler Rod and Gun Club.

Pick up a handout with more event details and register through Aug. 22 at the Payson Parks and Recreation office, 1000 W. Country Club Drive (on the south side of Green Valley Park).
