The StatClinix company was founded in 2003 and has facilities in Mesa, Ahwatukee, Scottsdale, Show Low and now in Payson, said Mary McGuire, chief operations officer. Another facility is planned for Fountain Hills later this year, she added.

All of the Payson facility's staff is from the Rim Country, though personnel from the company's other clinics may visit to assist from time to time.

"We can treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, but nothing long-term," she said.

"Our services are designed to complement the services that are already available," said Paula Parsons, director of operations.

The facility can do X-rays and minor procedures and sell a variety of pre-packaged medications as well, generally for under $20.

Among the common conditions treated are:

  • coughs, upper respiratory infections
  • ear infections
  • sore throats
  • asthma and/or lower respiratory infections
  • urinary tract infections
  • allergic reactions
  • skin rashes and infections
  • laceration repair
  • bone fractures
  • musculoskeletal sprains and/or strains
  • acute pain/migraine headache
  • school/sports physicals

Most major insurance is accepted. The company also provides a self-pay plan called "Stat-Club." This is a StatClinix medical discount program that can save patients up to 50 percent on charges for care received at any of the company's facilities. It is designed for patients without health insurance or those who only carry catastrophic coverage.

StatClinix Urgent Care facility is 2,300 square feet, has four exam rooms, an X-ray room and a large, air-conditioned waiting room that has a flat screen television.

"Our goal is to provide friendly, caring, cost-effective services and have the patient seen within 30 minutes," McGuire said.

The wait can be reduced if patients visit the company's Web site, statclinix.com where they can find new patient registration forms to download. By filling those out in advance of a visit, they can be processed more quickly.
