With the Little League regular season set to wrap up June 7, president Slade Gibson and coaches are reminiscing about the highly successful campaign.
"We've had such a fun season, all the games have been so close and down to the wire," Gibson said. "I'm sure it has been exciting for all coaches, parents and kids."
But when the recollections end, Gibson must begin gearing up for Payson Little League's run into postseason area, sectional and state tournaments.
First on the agenda will be the naming of Payson all-star players, which will take place June 15.
"We will then start practice on the 16th," Gibson said.
On June 21 in Winslow, Little League presidents from around central and northern Arizona will gather to select the towns and cities in which the six all-star tournaments will be played.
Gibson said he anticipates the boys tournaments in 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 years age division will tip off June 17.
The 13-14 years tournament will begin June 30.
For the girls fast pitch Little League teams, tournaments for both the 10-11 and 11-12 years divisions will begin July 7.
The regular season ending festivities will include games involving all teams playing on Rumsey III.
Action tips off at 8:30 a.m. with the Rockies taking on the Twins.
Later games are Reds vs. Giants (11 a.m.), White Sox vs. Giants (1:30 p.m.), Nationals vs. Diamondbacks (4 p.m.) and A's vs. Dodgers (6:30 p.m.).
Slade has issued an invitation to all parents and fans to turn out for the final games and help celebrate the culmination of the season.
