Diverse Group Takes Part In Pats Peach Orchard Trail Hike

Payson Parks and Recreation had another great turnout for the PATS Hike on the Peach Loop portion of the Peach Orchard Trail Saturday, May 31.

There was a diverse group of hikers this month, including six children accompanied by their parents and some new hikers who had never been out on a trail before.

The 2.6-mile Peach Loop Trail is one of the more challenging hikes on our PATS trails because of the steepness and terrain of the loop.

The efforts are more than worth it, however, with bird's-eye views of the Payson Golf Course, the Mogollon Rim and the Mazatzal Mountains.

Head group-hike leader Dusty Miller again guided the hike, with several stops at points of interest, including the Silver King Mine.

Join us for the next PATS group-led hike on the Monument Peak Loop Trail on Saturday, June 21.

This will be an easy, 3-mile hike with fantastic views of Monument Peak, Granite Dells and the Rim.

The hike will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Monument Peak Trailhead, which is 3.3 miles east of Highway 260 on Granite Dells Road. Remember on all of PATS hikes, we only go as fast as the slowest hiker.

The goal is to ensure you have a pleasant and safe outdoor experience, so please put on those hiking boots or trail shoes and join us.

Please call the Payson Parks and Recreation Office for more information at (928) 474-5242, ext. 7.
