Visitors to the Off-Leash Dog Park at Rumsey Park have a bright new bench on which to sit and enjoy the antics of their four-legged friends and the beautiful views.

The bench is also a place to remember a man who was a friend to many and a champion of dogs and good humor.

A plaque on the back of the new, bright yellow and orange bench at the Off-Leash Dog Park in Rumsey Park dedicates the seating to the memory of one of the park's founders, Mike Rokoff.

The bench is dedicated to the memory of Mike Rokoff, who, with his wife, Donna, helped plan and design the off-leash park, created by the Payson Area Woofers Society (PAWS), of which he was president for two years.

The Rokoffs came to Payson in 1996 and were active in the Payson Art League -- both were artists who worked for Hallmark for many years -- as well as PAWS.

Mike Rokoff died June 4, 2007 at his home in Star Valley.

"Almost everywhere I go, I see something that Mike did for people. They always make me laugh," Donna Rokoff told the small crowd of friends and family who gathered in the off-leash park for the dedication of the memorial bench, June 4 -- the first anniversary of Mike's death.
