Don't Dedicate Public Street As No Parking Zone

Editor:

This is for the Town of Payson Parks and Recreation Department.

Do you have oversight of the Payson Area Trails Association? Specifically, the dedication of trail rights-of-way within the Town of Payson.

I received a letter in the mail stating that a portion of the south side of West Sherwood Drive (Woodhill subdivision) was soon to be designated "No Parking Any Time."

This in order to accommodate a marked walking trail lane (Payson Area Trails Association) in the public street adjacent to the curb line. This will encompass several blocks of public street that is taxpayer-funded.

It will also deny the ability of long-term single family homeowners or their guests to park their vehicles on the public street in front of their homes.

I wish to express my opposition to this particular plan and believe it is not in the best interest of the citizens of Payson nor is it ethically right to dedicate public property to facilitate the activities of a small, private, local special interest group.
