At the annual meeting of the Payson Senior Center Board of Directors, Rebecca Jennings, program director of the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens Area Agency on Aging, Region V, presented Reed Cox, director, and Barbara Underwood, president, board of directors of the Payson Senor Center with the Provider of the Year award.
There are 22 providers of services to seniors in the two counties, including nine senior centers. This award is the first for the Payson Senior Center from the Pinal-Gila Council.
Jennings and Roger Hattrup, representing Olivia Guerrero, director of the Pinal-Gila Council, board of directors, said the Payson Senior Center showed the most increase of services to seniors, flow of organizational systems, and improvements in remodeling of the building.
Cox included the seniors, the staff and the board of directors when he said, "Thank you to everybody. It takes a combination of effort."
