The Payson Senior Citizens Center offers something for everyone.
A hot meal is served at noon weekdays in the dining room at 514 W. Main Street. No membership is required. Cost of the meal is $3 for persons 60 and older, $5 for those younger than 60. Meals also can be delivered to homebound individuals.
Reservations must be made one day in advance. For reservations, call (928) 474-4876.
Throughout the week, there are different activities as well.
Here is a sample:
Monday -- Old Time Music Makers, bingo, canasta, bridge
Tuesday -- aerobics, line dancing, pinochle, Euchre, Rummikub
Wednesday -- crochet, Bible study, Rummikub, bridge, wood carving
Thursday -- new line dancing, aerobics, line dancing
Friday -- pinochle, canasta
Each month, a variety of special programs are also offered at the Senior Center. Speakers discuss topics ranging from health and financial planning to interesting occupations.
Through one of its sponsoring agencies, the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens, the Area Agency on Aging, the Payson Senior Center also is able to provide regular legal advice and information on benefits available to the Rim Country's older residents.
The senior citizens of Pine and Strawberry have similar services available through the Pine Senior Citizens Center in the Pine Community Center complex at the corner of Highway 87 and Randall Place. Meals are served Monday through Friday. For more information, call (928) 476-2151.
