Tommie Martin, District 1 Supervisor, was on hand to offer congratulations and present plaques to the honorees that commemorated their service.

Take Pride Project members are constantly working at tasks designed to add to the beauty of Pine and Strawberry, and also help by maintaining and improving public buildings and monuments in our area.

Members can often be seen directing traffic and lending a helping hand at local charitable functions. Almost everyone living in our two mountain hamlets have benefited from the endeavors of the group.

Summer Block Party

The Church on Randall Place's annual block party will be from 4 to 8 p.m. July at 6338 W. Randall Place in Pine.
This community event offers fun for all ages. There will be a bounce house and games for the youngsters. Great food will be available including snow cones, popcorn and hamburgers. Live music will add to the festivities.

John Lake, pastor of the Church on Randall Place is inviting everyone to come out for a wonderful evening of food and fun.

The block party is a great opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. And, if you are into cycling, Lake might share a few tips.

Lake says, come out and enjoy the cool evening with family and friends. There is no admission charge.

No charge for brush and pine needle removal
Keeping our yards and lots free of brush and pine needles is always important but with the hot, dry and windy days we are experiencing, the fire danger isncreasing. Since it may be a whileefore monsoon rains arrive,he Pine Strawberry Fire Department is offering a valuable service. They will pick up brush and pine needles at no cost to the residents.

The pickups are scheduled on a rotating basis and there is no need to call. Here's the routine:

Place brush and leaves in bags on the side of the road where they can easily be accessed with a skip-loader. Pine needles should be stacked, but not placed in plastic bags. No logs bigger than six inches in diameter or eight feet in length will be picked up. Although there is no fee for this huge community service, the fire department is eligible to receive grant money if homeowners fill out worksheets. The community worksheet is available at the fire station or can be downloaded from the Pine-Strawberry Fire District Web site at: http://www.pine-strawberryfire.com/

Go to grant info and click on "download community time sheet."
