The Payson Children's Choral Theater Group will present "The Red, White and Blue," a patriotic musical, at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28 and at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at Ponderosa Baptist Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway (just south of Home Depot).
The musical extravaganza honors our heritage and the men and women who served our country. The Saturday night performance is dedicated to veterans and their friends and families. Each veteran will receive a small gift from the children. Admission is free.

Cowboy Dinner to help in breast cancer fight
Payson Pink Lady Bugs will host a fund-raising Cowboy Dinner from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at the Moose Lodge in Star Valley. Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure.
The dinner will feature beef brisket, baked potatoes, baked cowboy beans, cole slaw, rolls and butter, and homemade pies for dessert. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and children under 5 will be admitted free.
Breast Cancer Awareness items will be on display for purchase. Raffle tickets for lots of great prizes will be on sale.
For the second year, the Pink Lady Bugs will participate in the 60-mile, 3-day Walk for the Cure which takes place in Phoenix in November. Please show your support!
Town of Payson wants a ‘piece of your mind'
The Town of Payson is studying the local housing situation and wants your input. A survey is posted online at Survey Monkey. A direct link to the site is available at the Town's Web site: www.ci.payson .az.us. Once there, select the link that says "Click Here to Take the New Housing Survey."
All responses will be anonymous and will help the town understand residents' housing needs. The survey data will also be used to help create a plan to improve housing options for local workers and other residents.
Don't miss this opportunity to speak up about a key issue that affects the entire community. The survey will be available until July 20.

PHS Class of '63 plans July 19 reunion
The Payson High School Class of 1963 will be celebrating its 45th reunion, along with all who graduated from PHS in the sixties or before, on Saturday, July 19, at the LDS Church, just south of the hospital.
All who knew us, knew anyone who knew us or our families, or went to school in the old rock building, are invited to attend.
We had a reunion in 2004 and it was attended by around 150 old friends. Come and join us anytime after 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. BBQ, rolls and water will be provided, and if you would like to bring a salad, side or dessert, you may do so.

Democrats to host grand opening of headquarters
"The Northern Gila County Democratic Club, in collaboration with the Gila County Democratic Party, is pleased to announce the grand opening of its headquarters at 513 S. Beeline in the space formerly occupied by Breezes, between the Dairy Queen and Wendy's.
The grand opening will be held Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4 with a bake sale for change and a silent auction for change. The ribbon cutting will be at 12:30 p.m. on Independence Day, followed by a live auction at 2 p.m. The headquarters will also be open Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6. Pet calendar photo shoot Saturday
Primp your pooch and fluff up your feline for the next photo shoot for Payson Humane Society's 2009 Pet Calendar. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at the Off-Leash Dog Park at Rumsey Park on North McLane Road.
The cost to have your pet's photo in the calendar is $20 per photo for each specific date. The 2009 calendars will sell for $10 and make great special occasion gifts. Proceeds benefit the Payson Humane Society.

PHS music students' Band Camp July 21-25
Payson High School Band Camp for the 2008-2009 school year will be July 21 through July 25. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the high school music room.
Each student will need to bring proper shoes for marching, their instrument and lots of water. Don't forget hats and sunscreen. Be ready to work and have fun.
Museum to host open house July 5
Rim Country Museum will host an open house to celebrate the renovation of the original Ranger's Home and Ranger Station, including the Marguerite Noble library which is now the archives and research room.
The event will be held at he Rim Country Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 5. Enjoy some light refreshments and celebrate with us. There will be door prizes as well as a $50 gift certificate to be used in our gift shop, drawn from new memberships purchased that day.

‘Huffin' and Puffin' in the Pines' event planned
The "Huffin' and Puffin' in the Pines"-mile, 5-mile andun run/walkakes place Saturday, July 12. Volunteers are needed to help at aid stations, the family fun zone and community breakfast.
