The Payson High School auditorium will fill with music twice this week, thanks to the budding Rim Country Middle School musicians. These young people have put in many hours practicing with band teacher Mike Buskirk and Karen Phylow, the singing teacher.
"A piece of music is only ink on dead wood, until a musician breathes life into it," Buskirk said.
The public is invited to come to one or both free concerts.
RCMS jazz, beginning and advanced bands will perform beginning at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5.
The beginning and advance choirs will sing their hearts out at the same time on Thursday evening.
Trombonist Jimmy Brown, bandleader Mike Buskirk, vocalist Kaitie Jones and trumpeter John Buskirk are four of the 19-member jazz band. Jones' solo, "How High the Moon" is only one of the many numbers with which the teens will regale the audience.
