Zenola Gay de Koevend, 85, of Pine, Ariz., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. She was born in Creede, Colo. on Oct. 3, 1922 to William and Maudie Walker.
She was married to Fred de Koevend on May 18, 1941. They lived in Littleton, Colo. until they moved to Grand Lake, Colo. in 1952. There they owned and operated West-A-While Cottages and Mountain Mercantile for 25 years. After retirement, they spent their winters in Florence, Ariz. Following her husband's death in 1986, Mrs. de Koevend moved to Pine, Ariz. in 1988.
She enjoyed cooking, doing counted cross-stitch, playing the piano and reading.
She is survived by her daughters Pamela (John) Fox of Eagar, Ariz. and Sheryl de Koevend of Pine, Ariz.; grandchildren Darren (Pamela) Choate of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Andra Choate of Eagar, Ariz.; great-grandsons Seth and Colton Choate. She is also survived by one sister, Priscilla Sue Emerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and granddaughter, Gretta Gayann Choate, two sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8 at the First Baptist Church of Pine, 4039 N. Highway 87, Pine, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to RTA Hospice, 511 Mud Springs Road, Payson, AZ 85541 or First Baptist Church of Pine, AWANA Program, P.O. Box 354, Pine, AZ 85544.
