PATS hike

The Payson Area Trails System will lead a group hike of Cypress Trail starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15. Participants must register by March 14 and there is a $5 fee.

Meet at the established USFS Trail Access, approximately 2.0 miles east on Granite Dells Road from the Highway 260 intersection. Look for the "TRAIL" sign on the right (west) side of the road.

This hike is 4 miles round-trip and is fairly easy, but expect some inclines, loose rocks and seasonal running water.

Press Women host author

The Rim Country District of APW will meet at noon, Friday, March 28 at Pizza Factory.

The group is hosting Peter Aleshire, a reporter for the Payson Roundup, who has managed to write more than 12 books while working a variety of day jobs.

Aleshire's books focus on Arizona history, biography and natural history topics. He will talk about "Writing History Books While Working Your Day Job."

The meeting is open to the public free of charge and will take place in the meeting room of Pizza Factory, 238 E. Hwy. 260. For more information call (928) 468-9269.

Dutch Oven Cooking

The Payson Parks and Recreation program is presenting a Dutch Oven Cooking Class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at Rumsey Park's Ramada 4. The registration deadline is March 28, the cost is $30. The program is open to teens and older. Participants will learn from award-winning Dutch Oven cooking instructors.
