KTVK's "Good Morning Arizona," the number one-rated morning show for 14 years, is once again hitting the road for two weeks this spring and, as part of its yearly road trip, the station will broadcast from Payson on April 1.
"With the launch of the new Town's (Payson) Web site located at www.paysonrimcountry.com we are hoping to use this event as a springboard to launch the site out to the entire Arizona statewide community," said Cameron Davis, Payson's tourism and economic vitality director.
"The more people we have at the park, the better the show will be. We would love to have a great turnout from our citizens and show that Payson is a vibrant community, located in a beautiful part of the state with many outdoor opportunities, attractions, history and reasons to visit," said Davis.
Due to the road trip's success, this year the two weeks are being split into one-week trips to showcase more places around Arizona, a KTVK press release said.
The four-hour, Monday to Friday show will be traveling around northern Arizona showcasing some of Arizona's most historic, interesting and beautiful places the weeks of March 31-April 4 and May 5-9.
This will be the show's third consecutive year traveling around the state -- a major accomplishment for the station, which produces four hours of live programming from a different location each day.
On-air personalities from the popular show will be on-site including Tara Hitchcock, Brad Perry, Dan Davis and Scott Pasmore. In addition, helicopter pilot Bruce Haffner will showcase the beauty of Arizona with stunning aerials shot in high definition.
KTVK News Director Sandy Breland said, "We love taking ‘Good Morning Arizona' on the road and giving viewers a look at what makes our state so unique.
"There's so much to see in Arizona, for natives and newcomers alike. As the station that's known for reflecting the spirit of Arizona and its people, road trip gives us a chance to showcase the beauty and history of our state."
The road trip production crew consists of over 20 people who will travel with the show each week, along with 15 vehicles including a ‘Good Morning Arizona' branded RV. KTVK's hot air balloon will also make special appearances at select locations. The entire road trip is sponsored by the Arizona Office of Tourism and the Navajo Nation Parks and Recreation Department.
Residents of each road trip location are encouraged to come out and be part of the live show from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day.
KTVK personalities will autograph souvenir postcards, and the first 200 people to show up each day will receive a special souvenir road trip bandanna.
