‘TINY TROTTERS' BASKETBALL TONIGHT

The "Tiny Trotters" -- World's Smallest Basketball Team will present two hours of fun, laughter and entertainment at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 at the Tonto Apache Gym.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for youth and free for those age 3 and younger. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Easter Fest on Main Street

The Payson Womans Club Easter Fest is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22 at 510 W. Main St. There will be lots of goodies to eat and buy.

Spring Eggstravaganza

The 14th annual egg scramble for children ages 12 and under is Saturday, March 22 at North Rumsey Park on North McLane Road.

Scrambles (also known as egg hunts) for different age groups will be held at the following times: 9:30 a.m., ages 0 - 3; 9:45 a.m., ages 4 and 5; 10 a.m., ages 6 and 7; 10:15 a.m., ages 8 and 9; 10:30 a.m., ages 10 to 12; 10:45 a.m., special needs.

Children can collect eggs filled with candy and coupons for special prizes. There is no charge for this event. For more information, call Payson Parks and Recreation at (928) 474-5242 ext. 7.

Easter basket raffles

The Payson Humane Society will be at North Rumsey Park (right of the pool) on Saturday, March 22 selling raffle tickets on two special Easter baskets until 11:30 a.m. The drawing for both baskets is at 11:30 a.m. during the Payson Parks and Recreation Department's community Easter egg hunt.

The humane society will have two photographers at the event to take pictures of your children with their baskets.

Resurrection Celebration

The 2008 Resurrection Celebration Saturday, March 22 at Rumsey Park features the following music schedule: 10 a.m., Calvary Praise Band; 11:30 a.m., Two or More; 1:15 p.m., Blue Grass; 2 p.m., La Roca; 3 p.m., R-U.

Also included this year are clowns and several information booths.

Everything is free.

Chili cook-off planned

There will be a Tonto Basin Chili Cook-off and Cornbread Bake Down at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12 at the Kiwanis Community Youth Center in Punkin Center.

There are three prize categories: chili with beans, no-bean chili and cornbread. Trophies for first, second and third will be awarded in all three categories.

The entry fee is $10, payable to Pvt. Joe Hardt Marine Corps League, P.O. Box 798, Tonto Basin, AZ 85553 or sign up at the event. All proceeds will benefit the Tonto Basin Pvt. Joe Hardt Marine Corps League Det. 818.

View Main Street plans

The public is invited to view the Main Street streetscape vision and conceptual master plan at a workshop at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 at the Payson Senior Citizens Center, 512 W. Main St.

The event is hosted by the Green Valley Redevelopment Committee, A Dye Design, Inc. and the Town of Payson.

Town Hall on propane charges tonight

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) will hold a Town Hall meeting at the Payson High School auditorium at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 18. The commissioners will discuss issues related to SemStream propane gas charges.

After brief opening remarks from the commissioners, they will take comments from members of the public.

Blood drives scheduled

Arizona patients required more than 300,000 blood components last year. Most of us will need a transfusion during our lifetime. Donate blood.

Blood drives will be held at following: Wal-Mart, 300 N. Beeline, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, March 21 in the Bloodmobile in the parking lot; Payson Elks Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22 in the meeting room; and Payson High School, 301 S. McLane Road, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 25 in the lobby of the auditorium.

Internet safety program tonight

The Gila County CASA Program has teamed up with the office of the Attorney General to host an evening of safety for our community.

Robin Stamp from the Attorney General's Office will present a program on Internet safety, cyber predators and cyber bullying.

The forum will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 at the Payson School District board room, 514 West Wade Lane.

National Red Hat Day is April 25, and a luncheon will be held at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Red Hat Ladies of Payson and the surrounding area are all invited to attend, along with any woman who has an interest in learning more about the group. The different clubs meet for lunch and fellowship once a month; participate in parades and outings.

Free CPR class

The Mogollon Health Alliance, in conjunction with the Payson Fire Department, will be holding a free family and friends CPR class on Wednesday, March 26. Please call Mogollon Health Alliance at (928) 472-2588 for more information and to register. MHA pays for the class through fund-raising, our gift shop at the hospital and through the generous donations to our Almost New Thrift Shop at 304 E. Aero Drive.

Mature Workforce

A Mature Workforce program will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday March 27 with Kathy Nytrea, who is a workforce readiness program instructor at Gila Community College, and serves on the Area Agency on Aging Council for Gila County. Nytrea feels that there may be an opportunity for area businesses if they use the Mature Workforce Program.

The meeting will be broadcast ITV from Payson to Globe in room 403 in Payson and 520 in Globe.
