First Southern Baptist Church

Wade Hammond will present a special Easter program at 10:30 a.m., March 23 at the First Southern Baptist Church, which is located at the corner of West Bonita and South Colcord roads.

Congregations throughout the Rim Country will be celebrating Easter with several different services the rest of the week. On Thursday, March 20, several area churches have Maundy Thursday services. Friday, March 21 there will be Good Friday services and on Saturday, the community is invited to participate in the annual Resurrection Celebration at Rumsey Park. Easter Sunday there will be multiple services at most churches, starting with sunrise services, which will be followed by breakfasts at different churches and both contemporary and traditional worship services.

Glazes are guests

International evangelists Terrell and Beverly Glaze will be at Payson Living Word Bible Church, 94 Cornerstone Way (4 miles east of Payson on E. Highway 260, just across from Lumbermens) on Friday, March 21 through Sunday, March 23. On Friday and Saturday, the service will be at 7 p.m. and on Sunday; the service will be at 10:30 a.m.

Church of the Holy Nativity

The Church of the Holy Nativity an Anglican Catholic parish will commemorate the passion of our Lord with Holy Week services that include Holy Wednesday Low Mass and Unction will be at 10 a.m., March 19; Maundy Thursday, March 20, Mass and Meditation will be at 6 p.m.; Good Friday services will include Holy Communion and Stations of the Cross at 2 p.m., March 21. The church will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for private devotions and meditations.

The congregation will celebrate the Resurrection on Easter Sunday at 10 a.m., March 23 with a Solemn High Mass, followed by Easter brunch and an Easter egg hunt for the children in the Cloister. All are welcome.

Church of the Nazarene

The Payson First Church of the Nazarene will have three services for Easter. A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m.; a traditional service is planned at 9:30 a.m.; and a contemporary service will be held at 11:10 a.m.

There will be an Easter breakfast at 8 a.m. and an egg hunt at 9:45 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or evening service.

Mount Cross Lutheran Church

Mount Cross Lutheran Church's Holy Week services include the Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m., March 20, which will focus on learning to be a servant leader through Jesus' example.

A community service for Good Friday will be held at 7 p.m., March 21, with the congregation of Mount Cross joined by those of St. Paul's Episcopal, Payson United Methodist and Payson Community Presbyterian, along with the general public to mark this solemn day.

Easter Sunday services on March 23 include a traditional program at 8:30 a.m. and a contemporary program at 10:30 a.m. There will also be an Easter brunch and an Easter egg hunt.

The Potters House

The Potters House Church is presenting Mel Gibson's film, "The Passion of the Christ" at 7 p.m., Friday, March 21. Dominos Pizza and refreshments will be served following the movie. The Potters House Church Easter services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 23. Pastor Dan Green invites the public to "Come Grow With Us" through experiencing the miracle power of God. The Potters House Church is at 616 S. Beeline Highway, in the rear upstairs suite. Rock of Ages Lutheran Church

Holy Week at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, at the northeast corner of McLane and Airport roads will include: Maundy Thursday services with Holy Communion at 7 p.m., March 20 on "Body & Blood, Bread & Wine"; Good Friday services at 7 p.m., March 21 on "Taking Christ Down from the Cross"; Easter services on "The Triumphant Resurrection -- Cure for the Fear of Dying" at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., with a breakfast at 7 a.m. For more information, call Pastor David Sweet at (928) 474-2098.

Resurrection Celebration

The 2008 Resurrection Celebration Saturday, March 22 at Rumsey Park features the following music schedule: 10 a.m., Calvary Praise Band; 11:30 a.m., Two or More, a Christian recording group with roots in a variety of music styles, including native Ecuadorian; 1:15 p.m., Blue Grass; 2 p.m., La Roca; 3 p.m., R-U, a blues/rock band. Also included this year are clowns and several information booths, including Oasis Christian Books, Creation Science booth, The Gospel Story with face painting, Gideon's Bible Society, U-Turn for Christ Ministry, Payson Christian Clinic, Moms in Touch International, Time Out Shelter, Tonto Christian Camp, and more. Everything is free.

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, is holding 6 p.m. services on Maundy Thursday, March 20 and Good Friday, March 21. There will be two services on Easter Sunday, March 23, a sunrise service is set for 7 a.m., with Easter worship at 10 a.m.

A breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall with proceeds from the free-will offering going to the New Beginnings Pregnancy Center. Thrivent Financial will match funds for Lutherans.

United Methodist Church

The people of Payson United Methodist Church extend a welcome to all people no matter where they are along the journey of faith. Easter services will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a sunrise service. Casual dress and blankets are encouraged. A youth sponsored breakfast will follow.

The morning will continue with contemporary services at 8:30 a.m. and traditional services at 11 a.m. Free and professionally licensed childcare is available.
