A wilderness first aid course will be offered Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This comprehensive, two-day course is designed to teach participants and outdoor enthusiasts the skills needed to survive in an emergency medical situation until help is available, such as mountaineering, first aid administration in the wilderness, help signals and dealing with weather conditions.
Upon successful completion of the 16-hour, two-day class, including a written test and skill segments, participants will receive a Wilderness First Aid certificate, valid for three years.
Prerequisites: CPR certification is not required although it is highly recommended and current knowledge of skills will be assumed.
Participants must be at least 15 years old by the second day of the class. Registration deadline is April 18. The course fee is $115 and class size is limited, so register early.
