Peter Steven died March 8, 2008 at home in Payson. He was born Feb. 25, 1938 in Plainfield, N.J. to Andrew and Althea (Noyes) Steven.
He received his bachelor's of art degree in English on a Ford Fellowship from the University of Denver and completed graduate studies at Colorado State University.
He also served in the U.S. Army as a clinic medic in Germany.
Mr. Steven taught for 29 years in elementary and secondary schools in Colorado, initiating a remedial reading program and ski club for children and a writing course for adults. He had a lifelong love of learning and reading and also enjoyed photography, golf, tennis, racquetball, skiing, fishing and hiking.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pamela Falk; as well as family and friends in Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico and Colorado. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Mershon.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29 at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E. Highway 260 in Payson.
