No joking, today is April Fool's Day! Have you been the victim of a prank yet? Beware - there are still a lot of hours left in April 1.

The origins of this custom are buried in antiquity. It is believed to be a relic of early festivals in observance of the vernal equinox. One theory is that the practice of playing tricks on April 1 relates to the switch from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in the late 16th Century. The beginning of the year was moved from March to January. Those who clung to the old calendar and celebrated the beginning of the year in April had jokes played on them.
