Jacquelyn Ladd Ricker died March 30, 2008 in Payson. She was born Sept. 25, 1935 in Elmira, N.Y.
She graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, N.Y. and then attended Upsala College in East Orange, N.J.
She returned home and worked at the American Bridge Division of the U.S. Steel Corporation, where she met her husband.
After a move to Glastonbury, Conn., she volunteered with several civic organizations while raising her two sons.
Mrs. Ricker eventually began a career in genealogy and worked her way up to be office manager for the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.
After her retirement, she moved to Payson with her husband and continued her genealogy research and publishing.
In Payson, Mrs. Ricker became active in the Library Friends of Payson, the Gila County Historical Society and the Zane Grey Cabin Foundation.
Mrs. Ricker is survived by sons, David W. Ricker of Dallas, Texas and Dr. Jonathan E. (Nancy) Ricker of Danville, Ky.
Also surviving are her mother, Arthea Johnson of Prescott; brothers, William E. (Mary) Ladd of Scottsdale and Gary A. (Vivian) Ladd; grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Ricker and Rachel E. Ricker, both of Danville, Ky., and four nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband of nearly 50 years, David T. Ricker.
A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, April 2 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Drive in Payson. A graveside service will follow at Messinger Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
