The Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation and the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce are seeking nominations for the 2008 Rim Country Business Awards.

The deadline for nominations is April 25. Nominees will be announced May 5, with the awards presented at a luncheon May 29.

The 2008 Business Awards are designed to honor companies and persons for outstanding business practices and community involvement in the Rim Country.

There will be three awards presented in the following categories: Small Business of the Year, for businesses with one to nine employees; Large Business of the Year, for businesses with 10 or more employees; and Businessperson of the Year.

Any for-profit business in the Rim Country may be nominated. The nominee must be the owner, partner or major shareholder of the business and active in its day-to-day operations. All nominees must be in good standing in the community and with regulatory authorities, possess a current business license and agree to be nominated. All nominees must satisfy general requirements as well as specific award criteria. They also must be willing to attend the awards luncheon on May 29 in Payson.

Nominations may be made by anyone, including the nominee. Nominees will be notified they have been nominated and will be asked to fill out and return an acceptance of nomination. There is no limit to the number of nominations one can submit.

After evaluating all applications, three finalists will be chosen in each category for final judging. At the panel's discretion, the procedure may include an on-site visit or interview.

The following are the points on which nominees will be judged: growth and performance, standards and practices, customer service practices, business challenges, unique or innovative methods of products, community involvement and support, employee relations/culture, quality of products and services offered, environmental responsiveness and entrepreneurial spirit.

All nominees will receive a letter acknowledging nomination, recognition in PREDC/Chamber communications and local media, and will be highlighted on PREDC/ Chamber Web sites.

Finalists also receive complimentary seating at the business awards luncheon, recognition in the program, a profile at the awards luncheon and award certificates for display.
