Tonto Village has not only put its best foot forward with all the spring flowers and trees, but the residents are gearing up for a really busy summer season.
There are many meetings and events scheduled beginning with the Hellsgate Fireflies helping the residents of Star Valley with their second annual Spring Fling on May 3.
The event is sponsored by the Hellsgate firefighters and the auxiliary from Star Valley (station 21) and the Moose Lodge.
Breakfast will be served at the Moose Lodge and burgers and brats will be served by the firefighters of Hellsgate Fire Department.
Booths will also house many different wares in the parking lot of the Moose Lodge.
Important name omitted
In last week's column, there was a picture of some of the Hellsgate auxiliary members and one name was not included -- Debra Beller of Collins Ranch. Sorry about the omission, Debra. You are a vital part of the auxiliary and you are always there to pitch in to help wherever help is needed.
The Tonto Village Domestic Water Improvement District's monthly meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., May 6 at fire station 22 in Tonto Village.
Earlier that same day, the Hellsgate Fireflies auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting at station 22 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Discussion will center around the upcoming Memorial Weekend Breakfast to be held from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. May 24 at the Tonto Village Chapel.
The next important meeting of the Hellsgate Fireboard will be May 14 at station 21 in Star Valley. The meeting will get under way at 7 p.m.
Dylan and Angela Glass will celebrate their third wedding anniversary May 5. Angela is the oldest daughter of Rick and Theresa Meeker of Tonto Village II and Scottsdale.
On May 6, our granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband C.J. Walk will celebrate their wedding anniversary. May you continue to grow together in life and love, in the many years ahead.
Happy anniversary to both couples.
Tonto Village Chapel
Pastor James Barker will be adding another church service beginning in June. The service will be on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. There will also be an evening Bible study class Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Double D Happenings
The nine-ball gals from the Village and Christopher Creek got together last Tuesday evening at the Double D.
Winners were Nanci Olson from Christopher Creek, Kara Shaw and Ethel Cain from the Village.
On Sunday afternoon, the eight-ball players took over the pool tables and to no one's surprise, especially mine, Cliff Landrum was the top shooter. Kara Shaw and Ethel Cain placed second and third.
Watch for the date for the next Scotch Double Tournament in May, most likely after Mother's Day. The date will be in this column next week. The tournament will happen on a Friday evening with a potluck dinner. Watch for the date.
On May 24, local artists from the surrounding community will be holding an arts and crafts display from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cotton candy, popcorn and nachos with cheese will also be available. Tonto Village will be so busy there will be no excuse for anyone to be bored. Write down those dates, and enjoy our beautiful little community.
