Safety First Program Was A Success, Thanks To Those Who Helped

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Mogollon Health Alliance, Gracie Lee Haught Children's Memorial Fund and the Eastern Arizona Health Education Center who sponsored the Safety First Program.

This event took place on Tuesday, April 29 at the Frontier Elementary School playground for the kindergartners through the second grades. Native Air answered questions and gave a tour of their helicopter to the children. Payson Fire Department gave the students information to take home to share with their families, and allowed them to tour their fire engine.

One of our students volunteered to put on Chief deMasi's turnout gear to see how heavy and hot the gear is that the firefighters wear.

Payson Police Department gave a presentation about bicycle safety and a gift from the Gracie Haught Children's Memorial Fund, a bicycle helmet for each student. Some of the students have never had one. Life Star Ambulance shared information about their vehicle, and took care of a student who fell and scraped her knee at the event.

We thank all of these entities for the presentation they gave our students on that day, as well as the services they provide for our community on a daily basis. They continually put their lives on the line for us and should be commended for it.
