I would like to thank everyone at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care who provided care to my mother, Verda Meyers during our affiliation with them.
My mother began her journey with hospice about three years ago when she was placed on the “Bridging Program.” This program is designed to give support and assistance to “fragile patients” who do not meet the criteria for hospice admission. As a result of this intervention, my mother and the entire family acquired not only an advocate, but also a friend to help in trying times.
As her condition changed, my mother was placed on hospice in August of 2008 where she received all of the services they provide: nursing, certified nursing assistants, social workers and chaplains. All of these people treated my mother and the family with dignity and respect, making her last days more comfortable.
At the time of her death in October, my mother was in the Hospice House. She received exceptional care and I was given a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on. I would encourage anyone with questions regarding themselves or a loved one to contact hospice, I couldn’t have done it without them.
