Big Brothers Big Sisters and the #17 Arby’s Restaurant Racecar make a pit stop Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Walmart Supercenter in Payson.
Matt Kenseth’s #17 NASCAR Nationwide Series show car will make a stop at the Walmart in Payson to help raise awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
“The program in Rim Country has grown considerably over the past two years, “ Robert Henley, director of program for Northern Gila County, said.
“Last year we matched almost 75 children, but we’re still in need of volunteers, especially men.
“Funding is also needed in order to grow the program.
“We hope the NASCAR show car will attract citizens who are willing to volunteer or contribute money to support our efforts.”
The Arby’s NASCAR show car is a part of the Arby’s Foundation community event program, which is a travel series of events and activities that use customized Arby’s vehicles, like the #17 NASCAR show car, to support youth-mentoring initiatives across the country.
The Arby’s Foundation community event program coincides with the Arby’s Charity Tour, a nationwide charitable golf tournament, which is coming to Ancala Country Club in Scottsdale for the 10th annual Arby’s Charity Tour Arizona which benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
The Arby’s Charity Tour Arizona, hosted by Arby’s franchisee, Charlie Harmon of FX4, will take place on Monday, Nov. 10 with a 10 a.m. shotgun followed by a reception, auction and check presentation.
In the days following the golf tournament, the #17 Arby’s racecar and the Arby’s Foundation will partner with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter to raise awareness around the central Arizona area.
