On behalf of The Safeway Foundation, I would like to thank everyone for helping us raise over $12,000 for breast cancer research, treatment and early detection programs. The generosity and support of the community made this possible.
Special thanks to Majestic Mountain Inn, Ace Hardware, Big O Tires, Pepsi & Entenmann’s for donating prizes for our Bowling for a Cure event, and to Rim Country Lanes who graciously hosted the event, thanks to all the bowlers who participated and to their sponsors. Also, thanks to all the hungry folks who came and supported our special food events and to our Safeway patrons who donated at the registers. I would also like to thank the faculty and students at Rim Country Middle School and Frontier Elementary School who participated in our “Change for a Change” fund-raiser and to all the friends and family who donated their spare change (and bills). Also, thanks to Post Net and Pizza Factory for their contribution to this event. And last, but not least, thanks to inpayson.com, Payson Roundup, Rim Country Gazette and KCMA for helping spread the word.
Thanks to Julia Randall Elementary student Kassie Herrera’s idea of having classrooms collect spare change for charity we held our first “Change for a Change” event. Despite only two schools being able to participate, the event was a great success, raising over $2,289. The teachers were able to incorporate it into their lesson plans creating learning opportunities for the students and the children experienced the intrinsic reward of giving. RCMS raised $1778.54 and Frontier Elementary raised $510.60. Top fund-raising classes for each school will celebrate with a pizza party courtesy of The Pizza Factory. From RCMS Ms. Boston’s class won, raising $221.07, and from FES, Ms. deMasi’s class won, raising $94.87.
