The Friends And Neighbors (FAN) Club, booster organization supporting school district extracurricular activities, meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Pioneer Title.

The public is welcome and new members are invited to join in. Also on the Payson High School extracurricular activities front, athletic director Jason Lobik says the AIA has allowed the Longhorn basketball teams to have an extra game next season to accommodate newly built San Tan Foothills High School.

The girls will travel Jan. 5 to San Tan and the boys will host the school that same day in Wilson Dome.

In wrestling, a recent addition to the schedule is a Jan. 17 varsity match in Alamosa, Colo. where, Lobik says, the Longhorns will have the opportunity to compete against some of that state’s finest wrestlers.

The Payson wrestlers open the season Nov. 26 at Fountain Hills and have a junior varsity multi-meet Nov. 29 in Payson.

This year, the East regional meet will be in Eagar Springerville and the state championships in Prescott.

The girls basketball team scrimmages Camp Verde at 5 p.m. Nov. 20 in Wilson Dome. The Lady Horns open the season in earnest Nov. 24 in Wilson Dome against Holbrook. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The boys basketball team, which has been state runners-up the past two seasons, scrimmages Camp Verde at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in Wilson Dome.
