Eric Stevens, son of Wendell and Cathy Stevens who both teach in the Payson Unified School District, led the FFA team at the Goodyear high school where he teaches to victory in a national competition.
Stevens’ students from Millennium High School in Goodyear won first place in the National FFA Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event on Oct. 24. The Arizona team placed first in a competition against 42 other teams.
Stevens teaches agriculture at the Goodyear high school, but began by taking his father’s agriculture class at Payson High School for four years.
He was elected FFA President in high school, state vice president in college, earned a state FFA degree and an American FFA degree at the national level.
FFA used to be called Future Farmers of America, but now goes by National FFA Organization to reflect the expanding career field of agricultural education, according to its Web site.
