Make new friends and keep the old, the saying goes.
One is silver and the other gold.
It was 50 years ago that Valley National Bank opened for business in Payson, a community that has a lot in common with the bank. Both are committed to the silver and gold method of change — keep what’s working well and evolve to meet people’s ever-changing needs.
Valley National Bank is now Chase, a financial institution that dates back more than 200 years.
Romeo Zavala is the latest investment in Payson.
Zavala is the new manager of the Chase branch in Payson, 201 S. Beeline Highway. He joins veteran Assistant Branch Manager Antonette Gay, who will celebrate 34 years with the bank next year, all of which she has spent serving Payson customers.
“It’s an honor to serve the customers along the Rim Country,” Zavala said. “I’m inviting everyone in for a cup of coffee on me, so I can meet people and find out how we can serve them best.”
Zavala has 12 years of banking experience, starting as a teller and working his way through progressively responsible positions. He holds a degree from Arizona State and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
A California native, Zavala came to Arizona in 1994 for college and never left.
“I’m living the dream in Payson,” Zavala said. “For years I would drive up from the Valley to camp and go mountain biking, and now I just hop on my bike from the back yard.”
