Last week at the Christopher/Kohls Fire Department, the new board members were sworn into office by Chief Electra Van Eckhoutte. The three new members are Debbie Dawson, Margo Holmes Fish and Jim Oliver.
At the Dec. 8 board meeting, they will go over the policies and procedures for board members and will choose who will hold which positions.
It is starting to feel like winter and I feel snow on the way. Thanksgiving is over and now everyone moves on to the next holiday, my favorite, Christmas.
There are a few happenings going on in the area to note.
The Children’s Christmas Party is at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 at the fire station. Santa will be arriving to pass out stockings to the good little boys and girls. The children will be filling food boxes to pass out to the elderly and there will be cookies and hot chocolate. Pictures will be taken with jolly old Saint Nick and your child.
Also on Saturday, Dec. 13 — at 7 p.m. — the second annual Quads and Carts Parade through the community takes place. Meet at the Landmark parking lot. Drive slowly and sing some carols along the way.
Creekside Steakhouse and Tavern will be hosting the annual Community Christmas Party at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14. The party is a potluck, so bring along your favorite dish to share. There will be music, a white elephant secret Santa gift exchange, drink specials, door prizes and more. Call with what dish you are bringing.
Stan Szezpanski celebrated his birthday on Nov. 27; Debbie Dawson and Pam Christian will be adding candles to their cakes Nov. 28; my friend Marge Matus will add another candle to her cake Dec. 1 — and I know that cake has to be getting crowded; Marge and Frank Szezpanski will be celebrating his birthday Dec. 2. Wishing all of you a happy birthday.
