Thieves smashed the front door of a Payson outdoor store and made off with three BMX bicycles Thursday night.
Hike, Bike and Run, at 600 E. Highway 260, was broken into sometime between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Oct. 2, said owner Mick Wolf.
Wolf locked the store up around 11 p.m. and went home. Around 6 a.m., he got a call from police that his store had been broken into.
Around 5 a.m., the owner of Tiny’s Restaurant had noticed the front door was busted out, and he had called the police.
Wolf said the thieves disconnected his security camera and made off with $150 from a cash box and three $300 BMX bikes.
“They picked around,” Wolf said. “There were six of them and they didn’t take the more expensive bikes.”
Wolf is offering an $800 BMX bike reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
“The money is not as much as an issue as the principle is,” Wolf said. “I would rather they get caught than if I lose any money.”
