The Payson Roundup / Coconino Forest plans burns

Several planned prescribed fires will take place on the Coconino National Forest Thursday Oct 9.

The burns include:

• A1 Project – Approximately 200 acres of broadcast burning northeast of A1 Mountain, south of Fort Valley, and northwest of Hidden Hollow. Steady southwest winds are in the forecast for Thursday and Thursday night, and should carry most of the smoke northeast. Smoke will likely impact Fort Valley, Highway 180, and possibly Hidden Hollow.

• Mint Project – Approximately 1,000 acres of broadcast burning 3-4 miles east of Mormon Lake Village, south of Forest Road 125. Forecast winds should carry smoke northeast, but some residual smoke may settle around the Mormon Lake area and Fulton Canyon.
