County Superintendent Praised For Helping Schools

I would like to thank the Gila County School Superintendent, Linda O’Dell for support she has provided to the Hayden-Winkelman School District over the past four years. Dr. O’Dell has applied and received a number of grants totaling well over $1,000,000 over the last four years. The grants have been used to provide teachers throughout Gila County with professional development in math, science, reading and technology.

The funding she has provided to our Hayden-Winkelman School District for professional development is vital because of the lack of funding due to economic factors within the community and state.

In addition to her position as county superintendent, O’Dell has opened an alternative school for children that may not be successful in a regular school district or have been long-term suspended or expelled. The Globe Education Center provides a second chance for students who would not have any other means to continue their education.

She was not required to take on the added responsibility of running a school, but she did it because of her commitment to all children in our county. No Child Left Behind is not just words to Dr. Linda O’Dell — she believes it.

O’Dell’s achievements over the past four years have not gone unnoticed by this superintendent. Gila County is fortunate to have a county school superintendent who is concerned about every student in Gila County and hasn’t forgotten our small, rural southern Gila County School District. Thank you, Linda O’Dell.
