Why the big push for Payson to give away our park land?

Why is the Valley of the Sun YMCA working so hard and spending so much money to come to our town? Why should a nonprofit receive a gift of park land to unfairly compete with our local taxpaying businesses?

I don’t think they should and I plan to vote no on Proposition 401.

The YMCA will have to raise over $5.5 million to build a YMCA in Payson.

Why can’t they raise just a bit more and buy their own land? There are good sites for a YMCA: it could be built on Main Street, it could be built on the batting cage land or many other locations.

Any of these would be better than our beautiful park.
