The public is invited to the Payson Police Department’s monthly community meeting Wednesday night, at Town Hall.
The Community Prevention Council and Payson High School student government will give presentations, said Chief Don Engler.
The Community Prevention Council works to educate the community on drug and alcohol abuse in the community.
Engler said currently the council is focusing on underage consumption.
“It is a continuing problem in the community, so there focus in on that area,” Engler said.
Payson High School’s student government will also tackle the issue of underage drinking and driving with a $2,000 teen driving safety grant, received from the National Youth Leadership Council and State Farm Insurance.
Engler said students would work on creating a plan to reduce risky behavior by teens, including DUI in a partnership with the police department
After the two, 15-minute presentations, the meeting will be open to any questions or concerns from the community. Engler said people could call in and ask their questions directly by dialing (928) 474-5242 ext. 248. The meeting will air locally on channel 4.
The one-hour meeting starts at 7 p.m., Oct. 15, in the Town Council Chambers.
