We have lived in Pine for 12 years and for the first 10 years, constantly dealt with the fear of a wildfire destroying our home. Two years ago, this changed.
Thanks to Supervisor Tommie Martin’s efforts ensuring that first-strike water tanks and bladders are available along with the much-needed fire breaks, we no longer have to live in fear of a catastrophic fire.
I was most concerned to read in the Oct. 3, story “Haapala also opposed spending tax money that hold water around the county for fighting fires.” Mr. Haapala, protecting life and property is a basic function of government. Are you also opposed to spending money on fire trucks?
I urge everyone who values their lives, homes and possessions to vote for Tommie Martin for Supervisor District 1 in the upcoming election.
